Tips for a first message that gets an answer

"Hi" on its own rarely goes anywhere. Give the other person something to respond to: a question, an observation, the music you have on, the game you just closed.

Specific beats generic. "What's the last film you watched?" works better than "how are you" — it hands the other person an easy way in.

Be the person you'd want to land on. Most people here are simply looking for a real conversation, so a friendly, curious opener is usually enough. And if it doesn't click, Next exists — use it without guilt.

What happens to your messages

Messages are kept for a maximum of 90 days, solely so the moderation team can act on reports, and then deleted. IP addresses follow the same 90-day rule, and routine server logs are purged within 7 to 14 days.

Libekoo is hosted in France and operates under GDPR, which gives you enforceable rights over your data — access, deletion — rather than a vague promise in a policy hosted out of reach.

One habit worth keeping anywhere online: never share your full name, address, phone number or social handles with someone you've only just started talking to.
