What is Libekoo?

Libekoo is a free random chat site built in France after Omegle closed in November 2023. It does one thing and tries to do it well: it connects you with a stranger for a one-on-one conversation, by text or on video, and lets you move on to someone new whenever you like.

There is no account to create and nothing to install. You pick a nickname and you're in. If you prefer group conversation, six public rooms are open to everyone: gaming, music, cinema, tech, friendship, and le café — the anything-goes room.

How it works

Choose a nickname — any name you like, no email or phone number asked. Then pick your mode: text chat or video chat.

Libekoo pairs you with another person who is online at that moment. You talk for as long as you both want. When a conversation has run its course, hit Next and Libekoo looks for the next person.

Everything runs in the browser, on desktop or mobile. Your camera is only requested if you choose video — and only at the moment you click Start.

What makes Libekoo different

Hosted in France, under GDPR. Your data stays under European law: messages and IP addresses are deleted after 90 days at most, and routine server logs are purged within 7 to 14 days.

Moderated by humans. Automatic filtering catches the obvious, and every report is reviewed by the team. Reporting takes one click.

Video that stays between you. Video calls are peer-to-peer over WebRTC and encrypted: your stream travels from browser to browser and is never recorded. If a direct connection isn't possible, an encrypted relay server in France passes it along without storing anything.

Reveal mode. On video, both streams start blurred and gradually sharpen as the conversation goes on. You talk first and see later — which changes who sticks around, in a good way.

A nightly meeting point. Every evening at 9:00 PM Paris time, the community gathers for Libekoo Live: same hour, more people online, faster matching.

An honest word before you start

Libekoo is a young platform with a modest community, most of it French-speaking. We'd rather tell you that upfront than promise crowds we don't have.

English speakers are welcome — the interface is fully translated, and plenty of French users are happy to switch languages. The best time to try is 9 PM Paris time (3 PM ET), when the most people are online.
